We’re playing the Orangemen up at the Dome, one of the toughest places to play in the country. You’re looking for an Orange Rim in a sea of Orange (probably explains their foul shooting % sorry Sonny Spera I couldn’t resist). We never won there in my 4 years at Nova. The Late GREAT Pearl Washington is putting on a show, during a foul shot Pearl actually walks over to Coach, puts his arm around him and says (about his defender) “don’t get mad at him Coach he’s trying” Which is an accurate and hysterical line to say in the middle of the game.

We were horrible in the 1st half -Coach rips off his Jacket and Tie at halftime and smashes the blackboard breaking it in 2. He’s calling a guy a “Donothin” at the top of his lungs telling the player You don’t shoot, you don’t rebound , you dont play D,  YOU DONT DO NOTHING! well the coaching staff and trainers got nervous cause he really lost it in there and they were really worried he was gonna have a Heart Attack for real. In fact he sat on the bench in the 2nd half and didn’t really Coach much cause he thought he was gonna have a Heart Attack. We get killed Pearl gets over 30. The one thing about playing in the Dome is they have the Best Post Game Spread of any school in the Big East.

I’m in there making a Sandwich and Coach comes in Still furious and says “ Sure Eat Up Now Everson, we just got our Asses kicked and your Eating ?!!?! “ Enjoy it Cause tomorrow we’re all Running !  At this point I have no idea what came over me , maybe I was starving(I was) or maybe I just had a Brain Freeze ( I did) I asked Coach Mass to “pass the Mayo please” . I thought I just put him Over the edge.

He’s Screaming do I look like the Damn Mayo Man ?!! Cold cuts are flying it was a crazy scene I think D-Train pulled me out of there and saved me. What the Hell is Wrong with you Chuck ? Lol it wasn’t funny then but we were able to laugh about it years later
